FONIX- Love Is InFormation EP

FONIX Music Group’s first offering is a self titled EP by Love is InFormation. LIIF’s debut starts with “Not Running,” a driving dance anthem co-written and performed by two-time Grammy Award winner Kendra Foster. Although “Not Running,” like all the songs on the EP, doesn’t fit neatly into any single genre, the eight plus minute jewel is full of synth surprises, an unforgettable hook, and techno, house, and R&B references. 
Next on the A-side is “Random Particle” a mid-tempo track that takes sonic cues from international dance music and sets them to a laid back swing with a simple chord structure that feels like summer’s promise. What sets this song apart is the abstract vocal performance, the result of dozens of vocal samples that have been melted down and reconstituted. 
Side B begins with “Continuous Play” a beefy underground tour de force that grooves hard from the start, with an intricate weave of piano, vocal accents, and a sneaky organ dancing over a synth bass that could best be described as hungry. 
The EP concludes with “GoPro,” an undeniable good time from start to finish. This is a bonafide party starter, whether you’re 8 or 80 or somewhere in between. This track feels like it was recorded live in a futuristic juke joint, the kind of place where everyone comes to move. In this bar of the future, you might hear hints of a ragtime piano laid next to a funky 70s bass, looped over digital and live percussion and peppered with dots, bleeps, horns & sparse chords. This 180 gram artifact is from a first run of 300 records.
